March 4, 2010 – Since its inception, the Drama for Life Festival has aimed to offer a central hub for people working in the field of applied drama and theatre in the context of HIV/Aids.

This year’s theme, “Sex Actually”, focuses on ways to find creative and sustainable ways to build capacity in HIV/Aids education and prevention.

The diversity of both participants and audience will provide an array of exciting and stimulating workshops, seminars and exhibitions. This will offer participants the opportunity to fully explore themes relating to HIV/Aids in an honest, supportive and caring environment.

The event, which seeks to be all-inclusive and accessible, will include performances and workshops at various venues in Johannesburg (from August 21-29), Cape Town (September) and Durban (September).

The festival will offer participants from across the continent a supportive environment in which to share experiences and explore ideas to enhance individual and collective efforts in combating HIV/Aids through theatre.

All researchers, development workers, trainers, and theatre and health practitioners are invited to submit a proposal, by May 13, for workshops and performances to be presented at the 2010 Drama for Life Festival.

The Drama for Life Festival is made possible by the generous support of GTZ, Goethe-Institute, DED, NRF, Make Art/Stop AIDS and Wits School of the Arts.
