Excursion to Elandsdoorn
August 9, 2011
Our scholars just came back from an excursion to Elandsdoorn where they run a 2-day workshop with 150 young girls from the township in the Limpopo Province.
Supervised and supported by Drama for life teacher Tamara Gordon and Drama for life director Warren Nebe, the 2011 scholars got the chance to put their knowledge on Applied Drama and Theatre into practice and work on topics like pregnancy, sex and HIV and Aids with girls at the age of 12-15.
The workshops took place at the Ndlovu Care Group Centre in Elandsdoorn. Ndlovu Care Group is a multi award winning community development group that has been operating in rural areas in South Africa since 1994. Since the workshops on August 8th and 9th were extraordinary successful and attracted much more young girls than expected, Drama for Life is working on establishing a sustainable partnership with Ndlovu Care Group.
We hope that in the future we will have much more inspiring, energetic, instructive and meaningful experiences in Elandsdoorn.
