IDIERI 7 Call for submissions

IDIERI, the International Drama in Education Research Institute, is the pre-eminent drama education research conference, held triennially in centres of excellence for drama education throughout the world. Six previous conferences have been held; in Brisbane, Australia (1995), Canada (1997), the USA (2000), England (2003) and Jamaica (2006). In 2009 the event was hosted by the Faculty of Education and Social Work at the University of Sydney, Australia. The institute is focused on developing the research tradition and broadening the discourse and research focus of the international drama education community. The next institute will take place in Limerick, Ireland from 10-15 July 2012. Abstracts are now invited for submission to be included in the conference programme.

Potential presenters should please note the following:

  Submissions are sought for:
      o Paper presentations (20 minutes duration)
      o Research workshops (1hr 45 minutes duration) – Workshops proposals should articulate how they will examine an area of research practice.
      o Research performances (50 minutes duration) – Performances may be by individuals or groups, and should report on research practice, e.g. in the form of devised work, ethno-drama, performance ethnography
      o Symposia/Roundtables (1 hr duration) – Proposals should address how the symposium/roundtable session will focus on relevant aspects of the conference theme.
      o Poster presentations

  * All submissions should seek to address the conference theme.
  * Abstracts for papers and workshops should be no longer than 500 words.
  * Abstracts for performances, symposia/roundtables and posters should be no longer than 200 words.
  * A biography of 150 words maximum for each presenter should be included
  * This is a fully peer-reviewed conference
  * Closing date for receipt of proposals/abstracts is now extended to January 5, 2012
  * All presenters will be notified in January 2012
