Uganda

Allen Tush was born in 1976, in Rukungiri western Uganda. She first discovered that she could go on stage, without fear, at Makere University, when she joined the Department of Music Dance and Drama. It automatically changed her life and career.

Allen has played many roles in the field of theatre. She has been actively involved in various outreach programs, such as Peoples’ Theatre and Theatre for Development, which uses drama to help people from Internally Displaced Camps (IDCP) return to their homes, resettle and restore hope after the wars.

She has been teaching theatre for development and communication skills for performers at Makerere University. She was the Coordinator for Dramatool Project, in Uganda, where she participated in developing a website for artists (http://www.dramatool.org).

Now as a Drama for Life student, her dream is to see parents and teachers becoming primary educators to youth, in matters concerning HIV and AIDS education, as these are the people who are agents of change for future citizens.
