Boipelo Moagaesi hails from Botswana and describes herself as a young and passionate woman. She grew up highly involved in community service, working with various organisations such as UNICEF, Amnesty International and the Botswana Down Syndrome Association.

In the field of the arts, Boipelo has been involved in school productions, won a best supporting actress award and, in 2003, was appointed the co-facilitator of Project Phakama Botswana.

As a result of her work and commitment to her community, and upon completing her A-levels, she was awarded the Round Square King Constantine medal for “unusual and outstanding service”. Academically, Boipelo graduated with with a double-major BA in international studies and communication from Monash University Malaysia and most recently a BA Honours (with distinction) from the Drama for Life Programme at the University of Witwatersrand. Her honours research involved working with refugee women and children at Bienvenu Shelter, Johannesburg.

After being awarded two scholarships for 2010 (the Postgraduate Merit Award and a scholarship from the Deutscher Akademischer Austausch Dienst - DAAD) Boipelo is currently pursuing her Master’s in the Forced Migration Studies Programme. It is here that Boipelo wishes to merge her strong interests in developmental work, global governance and policy (particularly related to migrants), with her love for the arts.

Boipelo has also worked as a lifestyle and entertainment editor for The Botswana Gazette.
