Kabi Thulo’s journey into the world of theatre arts commenced through his undergraduate studies, which he completed in 2004 at the University of the Free State. Thereafter he started his professional career as an Arepp Theatre for Life (Educational Theatre Trust) performer in 2005. He worked for the Free State Department of Arts & Culture as a cultural facilitator from December 2006 to June 2007 before completing his Honours studies at the University of Cape Town in 2007.

Currently pursuing his Masters studies at the University of the Witwatersrand, this Drama For Life scholar’s area of interest is theatre making and directing. Thulo is also a traditional healer of Sotho origin. Part of his motivation to be a Drama for Life scholar is to find ways of merging his spirituality and theatre practice. His academic research is in African ritual theatre and process-based theatre making and directing practice. He envisages using ritual theatre as a tool of therapy.
