Lesotho

Mokhabelane Morahanye was born in a small town of Hlotse Leribe Lesotho. He did his matric in 1993 in a township high school where he began his career of acting and music. He has been involved in community youth theatre with the group called Lisemeng Multipurpose Youth Society in 1996 he enrolled in teachers college to further his studies. At the college he was involved in music and conducted the college choir. On several occasions he did performances with the choir on HIV and Aids issues.

After graduation from college he taught in high school where he established drama and music clubs through which he helped students perform on HIV and AIDS and other social issues. This earned him the privilege to attend a youth parliament in France in 1998 as a chaperone. His quest to help young people in their lives earned him a scholarship to study at the University of Witwatersrand where he is pursuing an hour degree in applied drama and theatre. He is interested in studying the efficacy of theatre as a tool for communication of HIV and AIDS in high schools. His case study is for schools. Mokhabelane is a co-founder of a new Sunshine Theatre Company in Lesotho.
