Mozambique

Orlando Alberto Govo was born in Maputo, Mozambique in 1978. He has an Honours degree in social and organisation psychology from the Universidade Eduardo Mondlane. Govo’s theatre experience began in 1996 when he and his colleagues started a theatre group to promote health and education issues.

In 1998 he joined the National Institute for Physical Education in Mozambique and he became a teacher in 2000. He has co-ordinated projects concerned with environmental conservation, sexual and reproductive health and HIV prevention specifically. He also writes scripts for radio and community interactions on HIV and AIDS.

As a Drama for Life scholar, his research question is: How effectively does the Grupo de Teatro do Oprimido theatre group use forum theatre techniques for HIV and AIDS education?
