Tendai Mutukwa

Tendai studied theatre at the University of Zimbabwe, where she was involved in numerous performances, as an actress and a designer. Upon completion of her studies, she joined Theory X Media Company, where she worked as an actress, with memorable roles as Laura Wingfield in Tennesse Williams’ The Glass Menagerie and as Alice in Vineger Tom; a feminist play that explores gender and power relationships through the lens of the 17th century witchcraft trials in England.

Tendai participated in the prestigious Harare International Festival of the Arts (HIFA) as an actress and practitioner; facilitating young people’s theatre, as well as theatre sports, games and exercises. She has also facilitated theatre-making skills to communities and to youth, in Harare, Gweru, Mutare and Inyanga.

Currently, through the Drama for Life project, Tendai aim to explore Applied Drama and how it can benefit and restore the dignity of the people of Southern Africa.
